Springtime in the South of France is full of blossom and sunshine. On average around 60% of the day is taken up with sunshine, the flowers and plants bloom and the residents of the French Riviera are ready to welcome the beautiful weather with open arms. If you’re looking to visit in the spring you can expect a laid back, quiet and mellow trip, with fewer tourists and a much quieter South of France. This doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do; spring events on the French Riviera are aplenty. Mostly dictated by sports events, but also celebrating the new season with more French festivals you’ll be in for a treat; and of course not forgetting the famous perfumeries Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard that are available to visit all year round…there’s lots to do! We give you our top 3 spring events on the French Riviera.

Cannes Film Festival
Cannes Film Festival is the most famous of them all, and has run for over 70 years! It runs over 12 days May 17th – May 28th 2022 and is a huge celebration of international talents within the film industry. Contrary to popular belief it is thought that this festival is only for the rich and famous, of course, there are certain events that only the select few can attend, however during the days of the festival there are limited available places to watch the screenings and tickets are distributed before each screening in front of the Palais des Festivals. There is also a cinema placed on the beach throughout that offers a selection of films free of charge, so you can relax and enjoy the festival from the beautiful sands of the Côte d’Azur.
If you’re one for glitz and glamour then there will be some mythical sights during the evenings of the festival. From beautiful yachts to exquisite ballgowns and fancy cars. Celebrities will be aplenty; it’s the place to be seen and an event that most celebrities barely miss. With 80,000 festival-goers and around 250,000 people present in Cannes over the festival period, it’s definitely one of the busiest times of the year, but it’s one of the most epic spring events on the French Riviera.
