Whether you are shooting a film, photoshoot or commercial, finding the perfect location here on the Côte d’Azur can be the first challenge that you face. There are a number of logistics and requirements that you will need, including all the practical things that you will need when it comes to having a filming crew on set. A great film and photoshoot location that is perfect for you, may not be perfect for someone else. Breaking down all your elements, resources and requirements will make it easier to find a venue or location that encompasses all the qualities you need for a perfect outcome!
So what do you need to look for when choosing the perfect film or photoshoot location on the Côte d’Azur? We give you our 5 top tips…
The Atmosphere and Vibe
Look around your potential venue to get a feeling for if it is the right place. Venues that are experienced in film and photoshoots will offer you a walk round to discuss the possibilities that come with the venue. Talk to your host about any restrictions that may be in place surrounding filmings. Are there any days, dates or times that they can’t do due to other commitments. Are there any locations that can’t be used for filming at all, or at certain times? Also, there’s definitely something about having a gut feeling when it comes to choosing film or photoshoot location.
Does the venue have experience in dealing in film and photoshoots? This will make life a lot easier for you as they will know what they are doing, making the whole process run that little bit smoother. Even better if they have an in-house events team that understand the area and space you are using, and the logistics behind a filming. They may be able to help you with anything you need in terms of suppliers too! Here at Château Saint Georges we have hosted many fims and photoshoots on the Côte d’Azur so our events team know the venue and process inside out!
Do you need multiple areas for filming? How versatile is the venue and could you shoot multiples scenes in the same place? Versatile venues that vary in indoor and indoor spaces should be used to their potential and will make your filming more efficient. Can one are be used for multiples scenes? If you are filming over a few days, check with the venue if they have the capacity and security to keep everything set up, this will make your life a lot easier!
Food and Drink
Having somewhere that can offer you an in-house catering service and refreshments will make life easier on a busy film set. It’s one less thing you have to worry about and organise, if this is done in-house. Talk to your venue about the packages they offer to suit different dietery requirements and times they are able to offer this service. If they don’t offer a catering service make sure they are happy for you to bring in outside caterers.
You will need to think about the logistics of your film and photoshoot location on the Côte d’Azur, Depending on the amount of people you have on the set will depend on your requirements. Do you need plenty of car parking, does it have accessibile areas for you to set up easily and is it easy to get to? Will you need to arrange transport for people. All these things can make or break your perfect venue or location.
