7 Tips For Hot Weather At Your Summer Destination Wedding

The glorious sunshine is one of the many reasons why couples choose to have a summer destination wedding, and of course we love the sunshine here in the South of France and it’s aplenty in the summer months. However, not everyone likes the heat and everyone responds to heat differently so planning ways to keep you and your guests cool at your destination wedding is always a good idea. Especially as some times of year and days can be hotter than expected. So, what should you do? Here’s our top 10 ways to keep cool at your destination wedding in the South of France.

Have Cooling Accessories Available

If it’s a hotter than hot day then the best way to keep your guest cool, especially whilst they are waiting around is to have cooling accessories available for them. This could include both cooling sprays and handheld fans. The best way to do this is to either speak to your venue about handing them out as your guests arrive or placing them on the ceremony seating for each of your guests. Just make sure that it is clear where they are and your guests can grab them as needed.

Water

Keep your guests hydrated! Alcohol and sun is not the best combination so you need to make sure that your guests have water at any opportunity needed. These can be handed out throughout the day as bottled water or you could have a water station available for them to keep hydrated throughout the day.

Have Parasols and Shaded Areas

Think about your ceremony space and what time of day you are getting married. These things will help your guests be comfortable in the heat. Destination weddings are almost aways held later in the day to avoid the peak sun times. Think about the location of your ceremony and make sure you don’t keep your guest waiting too long. If your guests have had too much of the sun then they might want to seek some shade. Either have parasols available for them to cover themselves or have a shaded area outdoors with some seating so they can still be a part of the wedding day.

Offer Ice Creams and Popsicles

Your guests will thankyou for a refreshing alternative to alcohol so why not have an ice cream parlour available! You could also serve popsicles from your bar too. There are lots of tasty cooling treats you could serve. Make it a feature and something fun to do at your wedding!

Have A Cool Space

If the heat gets too much, speak with your venue about an internal air-conditioned space that you and your guests can go to gain some relief from the heat and cool down. We recently shared tip on this for our venue here,

Carepacks

These can include anything you would like to keep your guests staying cool and refreshed. Speak with your venue about what types of things they already have available in their restrooms. Cooling hand gels, deoderant, and wipes or facial sprays are a great way to keep cool in the heat. Add some suncream too!

Think About the Food and Cake

Keeping food and your cake cool is essential! This is of course something your venue should take care of and advise you on. On hot days at the Château we would only bring the cake outside right before cutting if that’s where you choose to cut it. However, if you have a large cake that can’t be moved it’s always better to be kept inside. Inviting your guests indoors for the cutting of the cake will give them all a bit of heat relief for while anyway so win-win!
